Congratulations Cathy & Stefan

Our Saturday wedding was for Cathy & Stefan, a military couple who live out of state and got married here in the groom's home town. Their outdoor ceremony was held at the beautiful Milan Villa Bed & Breakfast in Norwalk, and the drizzle of rain stopped long enough for them to have a perfect ceremony on the breezeway. Immediately following was the reception at the Erie County Conservation League in Milan. The ceremony was accented with red pomanders, and the reception was set in ivory & navy blue with gold accents. Congrats to Cathy & Stefan, such a sweet young couple!

Congratulations Jaime & Adam!

This weekend we had two weddings, and Jaime & Adam were our first couple on Friday evening. They had a beautiful fall-colored ceremony and reception at Spring Lake Party Center in Akron. The weather was absolutely perfect for their sunset lakeside gazebo ceremony! Best wishes and congratulations to Jaime and Adam!

Special Touch :: Chair Tags

At last weekend's wedding, the bride provided these amazing chair tags for herself and the groom. I absolutely love the personal touch these added, incorporating the wedding colors and a bit of sparkle in the letters. After all, it's the little details that make all the difference...

DIY Project :: Take this a step further and make chair tags as place cards for each person in the wedding party, or even the entire guest list. Instead of a card on the table, hang a tag on the chair.

CostofWedding.com

Most of the time when I first sit down with a couple, they either don't know their budget or say they don't have one. Spending can get out of control FAST that way, so we always try to give our couples worksheets and tips for staying on budget.

CostofWedding.com is a new tool that everyone's buzzing about. It allows you to see what the average cost of a wedding is in your specific area. Just enter your zip code and it will tell you all the stats in detail about what the people in your area are spending, and what they're spending it on. This won't set your budget for you, but it will give you a good idea as to what you can expect to spend.

We even added a widget to our page for easy access. Check it out over on the right-hand column!

Congratulations Katie & Tyson!

Congratulations to this super sweet and happy couple! Their ceremony was performed right on the lake at the Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton. The weather was beautiful for the lakeside ceremony, and Katie was absolutely gorgeous in her form fitting gown, cathedral length veil and a flower adorning her hair.

The cast of vendors was five star! Catawba Island Club, Z Media, Artistry Video, Blush Weddings, I Do Cakes, Elmore Trolley, OK Rentals, and of course Amy Nixon Events, were just a few of the fabulous vendors on hand for this occasion!

Katie & Tyson had one of the most energetic receptions we've ever seen! Between the string quartet, the DJ, and the band Neon Black, guests were entertained from the moment they arrived until the last dance, and the dance floor stayed full the entire night (no exaggeration!). Huge puffs of green hydrangeas and pink roses were used throughout the decor including the centerpieces, escort card table, favor table and the ceremony archway and aisle. Aqua blue lights lit the tent after dark to create an elegant but fun party vibe!

The favors were handmade S'mores treats individually packaged...and did I mention DELICIOUS? Yum! The other sweet treat of the night was the teal wedding cake from I Do Cakes with four (yes, I said four) different flavors.The sweets weren't the only edible stars of the night, dinner was fabulous as well! Prime Rib, Halibut and Chicken were among the dinner choices, and CIC did a wonderful job with the catering!

All the best to you, Katie & Tyson. You make a truly perfect pair! Have a great time in Hawaii!

DIY :: Edible Escort Cards

Why not combine your favor and your escort card? You could save a bit of money, and your guests would appreciate the "sweet" thought! Here are a few examples of how to dress up simple sweets into eye catching escort cards:

DIY :: Old Fashioned Soda Bar

Old fashioned sodas add a fun and playful element to an event and can even be used as part of your decor! There are so many to reasons to love them: they are in pretty glass bottles, lots of times with original vintage-y logos on the packaging, and they are made with pure sugar cane, delicious!

We love them all set up arranged according to color or you can even just buy the color of flavors that go with your wedding. Instead of keeping them on ice, refrigerate them up until right before and line them up on a table or bar for maximum effect.

The hardest part of having old fashioned sodas is sourcing them. They can be difficult to come by. BevMo in California has a very large selection of specialty sodas (and even ships them online if you can't find something local). Gourmet delicatessens and stores can also have good selections and we've even got lucky before at warehouse stores like Costco.
