The University of Bridal with David Tutera

This weekend I had the pleasure to attend the Univeristy of Bridal at the Cleveland Marriott at Key Center, which was put on by David Tutera and Catan Fashions. I attended six seminars throughout the day on topics covering floral design, party decor, wine favors, lighting and event rentals. They all shared creative ideas for decor and provided information to brides about what to expect when meeting and booking with them.

The main ballroom, where David was speaking, had additional tables and decor set up around the room, all of which different local vendors created. Every table was different and fully set up for an event; menu cards, place cards, centerpieces, napkins, chargers, chair/chair cover, candles, linens....

I heard David Tutera do two Q&A sessions with brides, which was invaluable! He shared so many creative ideas and tips, I was a sponge just trying to soak up everything! The finale of the day was a fashion show by Catan Fashions, and all the dresses were from the David Tutera for Faviana line. To cap off the wonderful day, David signed my book and I got a photo with him.

Grand Opening :: Bella Bridesmaid

Last night, Whitney and I attended the grand opening for Bella Bridesmaid in Rocky River. It's such a beautiful space! The store was amazing, and I absolutely LOVED the chandeliers! We had such a great time browsing through all the bridesmaids dresses and meeting a few new people from the area. The owner of the store, Sandy Palenschat, told us that she's getting in a new Monique Lhuillier line soon. I'm excited to see those! Bella Bridesmaid is by appointment only, so make sure to call well in advance. If you're one of our current clients and would like an appointment, just call us and we'll arrange it for you!

Bella Bridesmaid is a quaint and inviting boutique that offers a refreshing departure from the usual bridesmaid experience: fresh, sassy and chic designer dresses in an intimate, upscale and approachable setting. Realizing the important role of a bridesmaid dress, Bella Bridesmaid provides each bride with personalized attention in a one-on-one environment surrounded by the latest designer bridesmaid dresses, as well as fun and customizable accessories.

Hello everyone!

Hello everyone!  My name is Whitney Selvage, and I am the newest member of the Amy Nixon Events team.  I have been interning with Amy since September, and I am lucky enough to have been offered a permanent position with her organization.  I look forward to meeting lots of new clients and helping Amy grow her business.

I started working with Amy as part of an internship through Cleveland State University.  I am in the process of finishing up my bachelor’s degree in journalism and promotional communication.  I also hold a bachelor’s degree in political science from Bowling Green State University.

Event planning became an interest of mine when my friends started getting married.  Planning bridal showers, going to floral shops and setting up reception halls became a hobby for me.  In addition, I joined the event planning committee where I work.  I was helping to organize company picnics, holiday parties and fundraising.

I enjoy creating a vision and seeing it come to life.  There are so many directions you can go with while planning an event, whether it’s a wedding, corporate event or charity event.  It’s interesting to meet each client, because each one has their own vision and style.  It gives me a sense of satisfaction to see someone enjoying themselves at an event I have helped coordinate.

I hope to transition this interest of mine into a career, and I am excited about the opportunity Amy has given me.  Feel free to contact me with any questions or to help plan your next event!
