I worked on my first wedding of the season yesterday, and it was such a beautiful event. I got to deliver the bouquet directly to the bride, and she looked radiant! Best wishes to the happy couple!

The trend of "Trash the Dress" and underwater bridal photography is amazing! The photos look so elegant, peaceful, and pristine....
I only wish I would have known of this back when I got married. It's got me thinking about getting out my old wedding dress for some fun photos, even though a lot of time has passed since my wedding! Is there a time limit on how long after the wedding you can do this? lol

Avon Oaks Country Club
Recently my local chapter of BNI moved our meeting location from Bay Village to Avon. We now meet at Avon Oaks Country Club. It couldn't work out more perfectly for me, because not only is Avon Oaks a great place for our business meetings, but they have 2 fabulous rooms that can accommodate a wedding reception with up to 300 guests! The staff have all been super friendly, and the views from their event rooms are incredible! If you're looking for a nice space for your reception, I recommend checking out Avon Oaks Country Club! Coming up soon is our first mixer of 2009! Since I was in Dallas through January and February, this will be our first opportunity for hosting a gathering! We will have hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, coffee and cake, "goodie bags" with samples and contact info, music from local talent, local vendors, and much more. Our room has a lovely fireplace in it, so even if it's cold come on out! Brides admission is always free (so pass the word on!) and vendors admission is $10. Mesenburg's Bridal Expo

Summer '09 Internships
It's that time of year again!
Amy Nixon Events is now accepting applications for our Summer '09 Internship program. Our two interns from last summer both completed the program successfully....one stayed on with us at Amy Nixon Events to coordinate weddings, and the other is starting her own event planning business. Progressive Field
Believe it or not, Progressive Field has some amazing spaces for weddings, both ceremony AND reception, not to mention other events! Carly Horvat invited me for lunch and a tour of the ballpark, and I was completely impressed with the space and level of service they offer! They offer many unique ideas for couples who want something other than the traditional style wedding! Thanks again to Carly for a wonderful afternoon!

What a sweet couple! They met at Purdue where Heather played golf and Nick played baseball, and Nick now plays for the Erie SeaWolves. The whole wedding had a Purdue theme, from the colors to the table names, and there was even a Purdue memorabilia table from their college days at the entry way to the reception. The venue was gorgeous and matched perfectly with their color choices! There was a garden area outside with a huge fire pit and color changing lights along the walkways - absolutely stunning! The desserts were amazing, and there wereplenty of sweets to accommodate all 330 guests....traditional wedding cake in 3 flavors, ice cream cake from Cold Stone in 5 flavors, and cookie cakes too! It was such a sweet night, in more ways than one! Thank you for allowing us to be involved in your special day. It was truly a unique experience!

I have to say, I feel truly blessed to have had the opportunity to work with such a wonderful couple, family and bridal party! Everyone was so gracious and pleasant, it made the whole experience that much more enjoyable! The reception was amazing -- the tall golden trees dripping with crystals and light were unbelieveable! I especially loved the "extras" -- the cookie/candy station, the surprise wine favors that came out after dinner, the wine cork escrt cards...every last detail was well thought out and came out perfect! You had a truly beautiful day, and I wish you a truly beautiful life to follow! Have fun in Jamaica, and I'm sending wishes of good weather for you!

I did the ceiling treatment for this wedding at Kalahari. Pink....with lights! It was super high up over the dance floor, and hung quite low...it really looked amazing in the large room!

Molly and Scott had an absolutely beautiful setting on Put In Bay for their wedding and reception. The church was small and beautiful, and they had a packed house for the ceremony! The reception was on the pavilion at the Crews Nest, and the chocolate/pink/ivory color combination was really gorgeous! The DJ kept the dance floor packed with everyone's favorite tunes, and I saw some crazy dances that I'd never seen before! A sentimental moment was when Molly's father made an announcement about a sailing flag they had made specially for the occasion. They had flown it on their sailboat for several days before the wedding, and then asked everyone in attendance to sign it. It said "Congratulations, Molly & Scott, Just Married". A truly beautiful evening!
Thank you Molly and Scott for allowing my staff and I to be a part of your wedding day! Your wedding party and family were all so gracious and friendly, and you two are the sweetest couple! I wish you many years of happiness, and have a wonderful honeymoon!
